What Limitations Are You Fighting For?

Something absolutely mind-blowing happened for me recently. I was listening to a podcast I found not long ago called The Coachable Podcast hosted by Tori Gordon.

I was cleaning my desk (which I often do because it is a perpetual dumping ground for half full coffee mugs), when Jim Kwik the special guest said something that absolutely rocked my thoughts.

"If you fight for your limitations you get to keep them."

Immediately my mind went to how many times I have exclaimed in frustration "I have no time!"

Time scarcity was a limitation that I was fighting to keep. Not because I was particularly fond of it, but it did serve me well. The busy single mother trope is one to be proud of and well worth the martyrdom it brings with it.

Passionately holding on to my identity as a busy busy business owner also helped me stay safe and small. How could I take on more clients? Market me? Create a group program that supports DIY marketers? Plus, do all of the necessary things outside of my business? I simply didn't have the time.

That single mindset shift from Jim Kwik on a perfectly ordinary weekday, while I was clearing away coffee clutter, set into motion. How I could solve my time problem instead of curling up with it like it was my toxic lover?

Before I knew it a large desktop calendar adorned my living room floor and I had busted out various colors of markers to map out time blocks for the recurring tasks in my life.

I started monitoring my thoughts and when I felt the panic of being time squeezed, I interrupted that thought with the mantra " There is enough time for everything."

I'm not going to tell you that these new actions are some kind of magic wand that sent stardust twinkling down on my life and took away my time scarcity belief completely, but I'm definitely seeing improvement in the small shifts that I have moved into over the last couple of weeks.

I'd love to know, what limitations are you fighting to keep? And what are you inspired to do so that you can let them go?
